WHAT IS SOPHIA?
Sophia is an AI-supported malnutrition screening tool for frontline health workers in Afghanistan. It enables rapid, standardized screening of children aged 6-59 months using anthropometric measurements and clinical assessment. Sophia brings expert clinical guidance to the most remote, hard-to-reach areas where doctors and specialists are unavailable. In rural villages and isolated communities, frontline health workers can rely on Sophia's AI-powered assessment to provide accurate, evidence-based malnutrition screening — ensuring no child is missed, regardless of location.
HOW IT WORKS
Sophia guides health workers through a streamlined screening workflow that captures critical anthropometric measurements and clinical indicators. The system instantly analyzes weight, height, MUAC, edema presence, and danger signs to generate an accurate malnutrition classification. An AI-powered clinical impression then synthesizes all findings into clear, actionable guidance for the child's immediate care pathway.
CLINICAL STANDARDS
Sophia is built on World Health Organization growth standards and the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition protocols used across Afghanistan. The clinical engine applies worst-case classification logic to ensure no at-risk child is missed — if any single indicator signals severe acute malnutrition, the system prioritizes immediate referral. Every assessment aligns with WHO and UNICEF guidelines for evidence-based, life-saving intervention.
DATA PRIVACY
No identifying information is collected. Sophia does not record names, phone numbers, addresses, or any personally identifiable information. All screening data is anonymized and securely stored. GPS coordinates are captured only for aggregate geographical analysis.
